Ikane Daisuke

Born in the village of Tei'lier, Ikane grew up by himself most of his life. Tei'lier was a bustling port town on the south side of the country of Xedes, ruled by the Monteryon Empire. At the age of 14, though, his life was taken away: while delivering a package to a neighboring village, Tei'Lier was attacked by an unknown force. He was devastated to find the port in complete ruins, without any survivors whatsoever. Anyone who was not taken captive was either dead, or dying.
*This has nothing to do with the thing above, but now I'm gonna make it story-ish. Since, um... I dunno.*
Ikane looked toward the horizon. The air smelled of blood, and the sky was a crimson red. Demons. Ikane looked around, trying to find the demon responsible for the destruction. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a cloaked figure standing atop a pile of corpses.
"Hey! What did you do to this village!?" yelled Ikane angrily, tears in his eyes. The demon looked towards him. Ikane could sense malice in his eyes, and prepared for the worst.
"Hah... you are a fool. Not only was your home destroyed, but it was because we were looking for you! If you had come sooner... many lives could have been spared." said the demon. He walked towards Ikane, who was weaponless at that point. Ikane looked to his right, and to his left. He found a corpse who was holding what appeared to be a harpoon in his hand. He must have been trying to defend himself,  thought Ikane. He ran towards the body, and pried the harpoon out of his hand.
"You... you killed EVERYONE! Everyone I cared about... gone..." Ikane exclaimed, sadly. He fell to his knees. "Who... who are you?"
"My name?... My name is Ara. The father of a demon child, and the used-to-be husband of a fool. But right now, you should be more concerned about yourself... and why we need you." Ara laughed. He raised his hands into the air, and chanted what appeared to be magic of the utmost level. Impossible, thought Ikane. He speaks the runic language flawlessly! Ikane knew he didn't have a chance. He spoke a few syllables of the runic language, and a fireball appeared on the ground. A few more syllables, and it grew bigger.
"God of fire, Thiaru... grant me the power of the rising flames, of the hatred between you and Platin... Crimson Flames Level 7!" yelled Ikane. Immediately, the fireball created a sort of a wall between Ara and Ikane. Ikane took the opportunity, and ran for the woods near the village.
"...Heh. You are a fool, Ikane. I WILL retrieve you at some point..." Ara said softly. He chanted a few syllables in the runic language, and was soon engulfed in a sea of darkness.

Toris Alamar

Today's the day, thought Toris. He had been lying on a 7-foot chunk of stone as a bed. There will be no more of that soon, Toris thought to himself. He was in a square room, made of steel, with little air vents. There was only one door, but it was password-locked, and you'd need a fingerprint sample to open it up. Toris waited for his master to open the door and assign him a task.
About a half-hour later, he heard someone kick the door. "Damn fingerprint scanner..." grumbled the voice behing the door. Toris finally heard three beeps, and the door opened to reveal a pig somewhere in his 50's. He was fat. Very fat. And he always seemed to carry some sort of food with him wherever he went. Today, it was a chunk of mashed potatoes. Yuck.
"So, uh... I'm ready, Mirando." said Toris to the pig. The pig glared at him with a look of contempt, and kicked him square in the gut. Toris fell to his knees, holding on to his stomach.
"You can only talk when I tell you to, Toris! Your work has doubled." yelled the pig. Toris had to shielf himself from the spit and mashed potatoes flying from the pigs mouth. Seriously, did he care? thought Toris. Probably not.
Mirando kicked Toris another time. "Get up, now! Or I will triple your work!" yelled the pig. Toris painfully got to his feet, and stared Mirando in the eyes with a You're the devil look. Mirando just laughed to himself. "...What do you have in your pocket?" Mirando said. Crap, thought Toris. THIS wasn't supposed to happen.
Toris reached his hand into his pocket and revealed a knife about 4 inches in length. Mirando gave a startled look, but before he could say something, Toris threw the knife with suprisingly good precision. It landed right between the pigs eyes. The whites of his eyes showed, and he dropped to the floor with a thud.
Toris didn't waste a second. He pulled the knife out of Mirando's head, and ran to the exit of the house that was beyond the steel room. He ran through the outside of the factory that he was meant to work at as a slave for the rest of his life, and came to the shed he was looking for. He quickly looked around for guards. He couldn't find any, so he kicked open the 21'st century door.
"Ria! Come with me!" exclaimed Toris. Ria looked surprised. No wonder, thought Toris. I arrived 15 hours early. He grabbed her by the hand, and pulled her up. Together, they ran out of the house and towards the ocean that loomed before them.
"Toris... why are you doing this so early? We planned to escape by nightfall, when no one was around!" Ria gasped. Toris responded back to her telling her what happened earlier, and she just nodded. "Heh. The sooner, the better, huh?" Finally, Toris found the stick in the ground.
Now, they weren't going to escape with a stick. It was what was beneath the stick that they were gonna escape with. He threw the stick to the side, and started digging. "Ria, I need your help." Toris said between breathes. Ria started digging, and soon, they unearthed the raft that they were building in secret since about 5 months ago.
"Hey! Hey, you two! Get back here!" yelled a guard about 10 yards behind them. Toris was pissed. He got up to his feet, walked towards the guard, who was weaponless... and slit the guards throat. He fell to the ground, dead.
"Hah. I've wanted to do that my whole life." Call it morbid, but he has. All of his friends have died the same way: their throats have been slit. The guard deserved it. "Ria, hurry up and grab the oars off the sides of the raft!" Ria nodded in response, and pried them off. Toris ran towards her, and helped her carry the raft and oars to the water. Soon, this will all be over... thought Toris to himself. Once they were about 4 feet into the ocean, Toris looked to Ria and said, "There's no turning back now. If we returned... we're as good as dead. You ready?"
"Yeah... I guess."
"You guess?"
"No... I AM ready!
"Good. That's what I wanted to hear."
They let go of the raft. They both hopped on, and started paddling away from the shore.

"Ria... where do we go now?" said Toris once they were about a couple miles away from the shore.
"I... I don't know. Let's just keep paddling until we reach some chunk of land." After about 2 days, they finally caught sight of dry land.
"Ria, look! Land!" Toris exclaimed. Ria looked towards the chunk of land and gasped. Finally, they were safe. At least they thought.
"Hah. We've got you now." boomed a voice that seemed to come from underwater. They both looked down the sides of the raft, and noticed a shadowy figure about the shape of a ball. That could only mean one thing:
The slave keepers sent reinforcements to capture them.
Toris and Ria started to panic. They both paddled harder and harder... until Toris snapped the oar from the pressure he was putting on it. He raised it, shook his head, and threw it out to sea. It landed with a slush.
"Ria, quick! Hand me the oar!", Toris shouted. Ria looked at him to see that he wasn't holding an oar any more, and looked at him questioningly. But she gave him the oar anyway, and Toris started paddling.
About 3 minutes later, the submarine surfaced 5 feet in front of them. The hatch opened, and a gun raised out of it.
"Oh, shi--"
But before Toris could complete saying this, whoever was in the submarine shot the gun. It hit Toris squarely to the side. Toris started to panic. We got this far... thought Toris to himself. I... I CANNOT afford to fall this soon! Toris got up, clutching his side.
"Toris, what're you... no, don't!" But before Ria could respond, Toris jumped on top of the submarine. He threw the knife to the raft, and the blade stuck out of a log.
"Use it if anything else happens! Now, escape!", yelled Toris. Ria looked back at him, tears in her eyes.
"Toris... be safe. I love you..." she said. While Toris was busy trying to kill the people inside the submarine, Ria escaped quietly.

Toris never saw her again...
